“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s grace.” 1 Peter 4:10
Emily joined Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith in 2016 as a staff accountant after serving as an intern during the tax season of 2015. She works with a variety of industries preparing tax returns as well as assisting with the preparation of financial statement audits, reviews and compilations.
Described as caring, enthusiastic and bubbly, Emily attributes her success to her parents’ love and support as well as the wonderful experience at Auburn. Her favorite quote is from Oscar Wilde, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist.” It reminds her of how precious life really is and how we should make the most of every day. A perfect example of this philosophy was when Emily went on an African safari where her jeep was actually chased by an elephant!
Born in Albany, Georgia, Emily now lives in Birmingham where she loves to go hiking, bake any kind of dessert, watch Auburn football, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She says she loves Birmingham because it’s such a big city with so much to offer, yet it still feels like a small town. Plus, the food is AMAZING!
