Laurie joined Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith in early 2014 as the guest and client experience coordinator, which allowed her to gain a greater understanding of the firm’s clients and industries that it serves. These interactions and the relationships she built with clients made for an easy transition when she was promoted into a marketing role, less than two years after joining the firm.

What she loves most about her role is being able to make a difference by implementing new ideas and strategic initiatives that help drive firm growth. Her passion for helping others is one of the many reasons she enjoys assisting her colleagues as they develop their own marketing and business development skills and then watching them succeed in these areas. Colleagues would describe Laurie as enthusiastic and someone that thinks outside of the box. She attributes much of her success to her ambition, ability to learn quickly and not being afraid to question the status quo.

Laurie grew up in Memphis, home of the blues and BBQ. Her father was in the music business and her mother owned her own wedding cake company. So, it’s no surprise that the amazing food, great events and live music are a few of the things she loves about living in Birmingham.  In her free time, Laurie can often be found trying out the latest foodie hot spot with friends, going to concerts, instagramming pictures of her pug Louie, listening to TEDTalks and spending time with her adorable nieces and nephew.
